High school students experience finding their place at UWS
“On Wednesday 13 November 2024, more than 100 S3/4 pupils from ten high schools across Ayrshire got a taste of university life at the UWS Taster Day, held at the Ayr Campus. The event – a collaboration between the UWS Student Recruitment Team, Ayrshire Chamber, and DYW – proved to be a resounding success, sparking excitement, and informing young minds about their future academic possibilities.
Throughout the day, students participated in engaging workshops, from delving into the world of sports science, to exploring the thrill of broadcast production, showcasing the vast academic landscape at UWS.
With three interactive sessions spread across the morning and afternoon, pupils were given the opportunity to explore different subject areas, providing valuable insights into university life and helping students make informed decisions about their future.
The UWS Taster Day was about fostering connections and creating a positive memory of university life. The event’s success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of all involved. With newfound knowledge and curiosity, students are now better equipped to navigate their academic journeys.
Hopefully some of them will find their place at UWS in the near future!” UWS Student Recruitment Team
