William Duncan Career Open Day

William Duncan Accountants were delighted to work with DYW Ayrshire to invite local pupils into their Head Office in Ayr on Wednesday 7 June 2023. The team were pleased to welcome 18 pupils and representatives from South Ayrshire Schools Prestwick Academy, Belmont Academy and Marr College for their first ever Careers Open Day. The taster event was a chance for pupils to find out more about William Duncan Accountants as a firm and what they do. Pupils were also given the chance to learn more about what they would need to do in order to have a career in accountancy as a school-leaver or at graduate level.

The pupils were able to talk directly to current trainees and recently qualified team members about the realities of working and studying in an accountancy practice. The programme also included some interview hints and top tips to success and those attending impressed by showing off their knowledge during a round of Accounting Lingo Bingo! The William Duncan team members involved completely stepped out of their day-to-day roles and comfort zones to help support the event and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the pupils on the day. They were delighted to receive lots of positive feedback following event so much so they hope to repeat it again in the future. Thanks must go to Brooke and the team at DYW Ayrshire for supporting the event and for helping to showcase William Duncan as a first-choice destination for those interested in pursuing a future career in accountancy.
