Jaiden, a senior pupil from James Reid School in Saltcoats completed a 10-week work experience placement with KO-NEKT Centre in Ardrossan. The Centre is the first of its kind in Ayrshire, supporting children and young people aged 5-18yrs who have additional support needs. KO-NEKT put in place a training course which Jaiden completed with flying colours and from the experience, he has become a voluntary member of staff at his school. The course covered, time keeping, money management, travel to and from work, language and communication, google search and appropriate social media usage, as well as taking and redirecting calls and sending emails. Jaiden’s confidence and independence improved and by the end of the 10 weeks he was able to work independently.
